(Pete) Halverstadt joined the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development in 1998 as a Workers’ Compensation Specialist in the Uninsured Employers Fund. In July 2004, he was appointed Director of the Penalty Program. He often handles legislative responsibilities for the Division of Workers’ Compensation. He also represents the Department’s Labor Standards and Personnel programs, the Division’s Drug-Free Workplace Program, and the Medical Care and Cost Containment Committee. Halverstadt is a Rule 31 Certified Mediator and Special Education Mediator for the Tennessee Department of Education. He is a member of the Nashville and Tennessee Bar Associations. He serves as Past President of a non-profit organization, the Guardianship and Trust Corporation. He is a frequent presenter for the Department and bar associations. Halverstadt graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina and the University of Tennessee College of Law. He interned with both the District Attorney’s and Public Defender’s offices. He was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1994. He had a solo civil and criminal trial practice from 1994 through 1998.
