During their last session, the Tennessee legislature enacted five bills in the workers’ compensation area, including:

  • Effect of filing a Request for Assistance on the time for filing a request for a benefit review conference
  • When the Division of Workers’ Compensation can set a date for a benefit review conference
  • Procedure to be followed when a new edition of the AMA Guides is released
  • Panel of three physicians and panel of three surgeons when employee requires surgery
  • When contractors are required to carry workers’ comp insurance

In just 60 minutes Pete Halverstadt, Director of the state's Penalty Program will walk you through this new legislation, as well as:

  • Penalties: When will they be imposed? How steep are they? What excuses work and which ones don’t work?
  • Deadlines: What are critical dates to keep in mind when a worker is injured? When can you get an extension? What are the consequences of missing deadlines?
  • Legislation: What did the legislature change? How will the changes affect you?
